Privacy Policy – ASPED 2026

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the ASPED 2026 mobile application (“the App”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use it. The App is the official mobile application for the 7th Arab Society for Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes Conference (ASPED 2026), held on 5–7 December 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is operated by the ASPED 2026 Organizing Committee together with Top House Conferences.

1. Information We Collect

We aim to collect as little information as possible. The App does not require account creation, and we do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, or other personal identifiers directly through the App.

The following information may be collected automatically:

  • Push Notification Token: A device-specific token generated by Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) so we can send conference-related notifications (program updates, reminders, announcements). This token does not identify you personally.
  • Device Information: Basic non-personal information such as device model, operating system version, and app version, used solely for diagnostics and ensuring app compatibility.
  • App Preferences: Bookmarks, saved sessions, and settings are stored locally on your device only. They are not transmitted to our servers.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email, address, or phone number through the App.
  • We do not track your location.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not sell or rent any data to third parties.

3. Permissions Used

  • Notifications: Used to send you conference updates and reminders. You may disable this in your device settings at any time.
  • Photo Library (iOS): Only used if you choose to save an image from the App to your device.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Expo / EAS (Expo Application Services): Used for over-the-air updates and push notification delivery. See expo.dev/privacy.
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs): On iOS devices, used to deliver push notifications.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): On Android devices, used to deliver push notifications. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

5. External Websites and Payment

The App contains links to external websites operated by the ASPED 2026 organizers and Top House Conferences (such as the registration page and abstract submission portal). Registration and payment for the conference are processed on the external website, not within the App. When you tap “Register” or “Submit Abstract”, you are taken to an external secure page. Payment information is handled entirely by that website and its payment processor; the App does not see or store any payment data.

6. Data Storage and Security

Any data stored by the App (bookmarks, preferences) remains on your device. Push notification tokens are stored securely and used only to deliver notifications from us. We use industry-standard practices to protect data transmitted to and from our services. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for healthcare professionals and adult attendees of the ASPED 2026 conference. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Rights

You may:

  • Disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
  • Delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App.
  • Contact us to request removal of your push notification token from our delivery system.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
